First jobs
Process
The first jobs come in and with them the first numbers. They say one thing, and it is not the one I expected: a public service cannot be handed to just anybody.
Holding the authorisations is not enough. The difference is made by the professional, meaning somebody who does this for a living every day and has something to lose by doing it badly.
In a market as small as Ticino I reached 65% failed bookings and 80% ghost drivers: people showing as online who were not on the road.
The problem was not the technology. It was the lack of professionalism, and that is where the rule that still stands comes from: you come in only through an operator, and the operator answers for whoever it puts on the road.
